Northern Tanzania - September 17-27, 2024
Join award winning photographers Denise Ippolito and Paul McKenzie in Northern Tanzania for an African Safari. The annual migration comprising 1.3m Wildebeest and 300,000 zebras is the world’s largest migration, visible even from space. The highlight of their 800 mile circuitous journey are the spectacular river crossings in Northern Tanzania and southern Kenya. On the Tanzania side, there are only a fraction of the number of tourists and vehicles, making it a far more enjoyable experience and much better for photography.
Northern Tanzania has all the attendant big cats and other iconic animals that the Mara has but without the crowds. After entering the Mara in early to mid July, the herds begin returning to the Tanzania in mid-September. We have chosen our dates to coincide with this return journey which should ensure the herds are crossing towards us - the optimal situation photographically. Aside from the river crossings, we will photograph all the big cats (lions, leopards and cheetahs). Hopefully we will get to see and photograph predation by these cats (high chance). We will also see and photograph elephant, giraffe, buffalo and many other animal.
*We will use stretch Toyoto land cruisers with three rows per vehicle so that everyone gets their own row. Limit 9.
Logistics:
September 17th- Arrival in at Kilimanjaro International airport. Transfer to and overnight in Arusha town, Tanzania. And then our adventure begins.
Northern Serengeti-
After an early morning game drive, drive to the airstrip for morning flight back to Kilimanjaro. Guests can then fly out on the evening of September 27th from Kilimanjaro airport.
The price includes all meals at our camp, dinner on the 17th and breakfast on the 18th at Arusha hotel, all accommodations on a per person sharing basis as well as the flight back from the Serengeti to Kilimanjaro. It does not include international flights, drinks at our camps and lodges, laundry and other miscellaneous items as well as tips for the camp staff and our drivers- approx. $350.00 per person.

Deposit I will need a $2,000 non-refundable deposit now that is made by pushing the “Deposit button” in order to hold your spot and the final payment is due on May 15th, 2023. All payments except for the deposit must be paid via check only, made out to “Denise Ippolito LLC”. Overseas folks can pay their balances via wire transfer; the registrant is responsible for the fees on both ends. Sorry, there are no discounts given to non-photographer spouses for this trip.
Travel Insurance- I urge everyone to purchase travel insurance for a major trip like this.
This trip needs a minimum of 6 to go, please don't purchase your flights until I have confirmed. All deposits will be refunded in full if the trip does not run.
