China Photography Workshop/Tour April 9-21, 2021 ~ Xiapu-Hangzhou-Lishui-Shanghai (12 nights)

After my very successful photography tour to Fujian China in November, I have decided to do another tour to the Fujian Province in April of 2021. I chose this time for the tour to coincide with the kelp harvest time. This trip will also be one night longer than my last trip. We will also be traveling to a few different locations during our stay. I will be leading this trip along with two extremely talented bi-lingual photography guides. This is very important as they know and understand the language and culture as well as photography and what we want to accomplish during our time there. Together, the three of us have put together another great tour!

Day 1: Fuzhou – Xiapu—April 9th

Upon arrival in Fuzhou Airport (FOC), we will immediately transfer to Xiapu on a spacious bus and check into our hotel. We will be photographing the mangrove forest during sunset. We will have a luxurious welcome dinner in the hotel where we will get know to each other and have a briefing for the upcoming trip.

Day 2: Xiapu (Dongan Island – Beidou – Dongbi)

In the next 5 days, we will be photographing the beautiful Xiapu coastal landscape. Xiapa located in the Fujian province and it is the largest mudflat in China. Xiapu ranks #1 on the list of "Top 10 Paradises for Photographers" in China for its unique coastal landscape. On day 2, we will take a boat ride to visit Dongan Island for an early morning photo shoot. Then we will visit Beidou, a fishing village where most of the fishing nets are made. In the evening, we will photograph the beautiful coast of Dongbi.

Day 3: Xiapu (Mantoushan – Shajiang – Yangjiaxi)

We will wake up early for a sunrise shoot at Mantoushan, a.k.a. Bun Hill. Then we will proceed to Shajiang to photograph the local village life, as well as the famous S-Curve. In the evening, we will photograph the flying fishing nets and fishermen working near Yangjiaxi.

Day 4: Xiapu (Beiqi – Sansha – Xiaohao)

We will wake up early in the morning for sunrise at Beiqi, which is one of the most dramatic coastal landscapes in Xiapu, with the well-known tiger skin stripe mudflats, fishermen, fishing boats, and thousands of bamboo poles. In the afternoon, we will go to Sansha to photograph the fish sauce making, followed by a sunset shoot at Xiaohao.

Day 5: Xiapu (Huazhu – Yangjiaxi – Bachemen – Nanqi)

We will photograph sunrise in Huazhu, then immediately transfer to Yangjiaxi for staged shots of the farmers and buffalo walking under the tree. We will then proceed to Bachemen to photograph the purse seine where crabs are cultivated. The sunset photo session will be in Nanqi.

Day 6: Xiapu (Xiaqingshan – Nantang – Zhutan Island)

We will be going to Xiaqingshan for sunrise on the bridge in the morning, then continue shooting colorful round nets and beautiful mudflat patterns at Nantang. In the afternoon, we will get on the boat and travel across to the Zhutan Island to photograph until sunset.

Day 7: Xiapu – Lishui

After breakfast, we will continue our journey to Lishui, an ancient town where it is peaceful and serene. Walk through the ancient town followed by a sunset shoot by the river, while traditional fishing boats are heading home.

Day 8: Lishui – Hangzhou

Photo session by the river of Lishui in the morning. Then we will head to Hangzhou to catch the sunset.

Day 9: Hangzhou

We will be visiting a home at the green tea Longjing Village where they produce the best green tea in China. We will also do a sightseeing trip to the historical temples and a boat ride on West Lake.

Day 10: Hangzhou – Xitang Water Village

We will proceed to the ancient Water Village of Xitang after breakfast in the morning. You will be amazed by the typical ancient Water Village in Zhejiang province, we will spend a day exploring the narrow alleys, perhaps take a boat ride along the canal systems.

Day 11: Xitang Water Village – Shanghai

Sunrise shooting at Xitang Water Village. Hotel check out at noon and then proceed to Shanghai. Check into our hotel in Shanghai upon arrival. We will be shooting blue hour and twilight on the bund.

Day 12: Shanghai

Sightseeing and city tour in Shanghai, includes the Old Shanghai Street, as well as photographing the city skyline of Shanghai.

Day 13: Shanghai —April 21st – Homeland

Transfer to the airport for our flights home.
